Alaska Nunivak Island Muskox

Muskox is known as a “sheep-ox” (Caprinae Ovibos). Along with the takin, they are the largest of the caprinae family. Starting with transplanted East Greenland muskoxen in 1930, muskox were re-introduced and have thrived on Nunivak Island.
This auction is for Area DX001/003 on Nunivak Island. Most recent statistics show that 2014 muskox hunters were 100% successful for a total of 21 muskox taken in the DX001/003 area. Muskox hunting season is September 1 - 30 (fall season) and Feb 1 - March 15 (winter season). You should be prepared for inclement weather in either season.
This State of Alaska special fundraising tag is good throughout the 2019-2020 season. This auction item is for the tag only. We recommend that you contact an outfitter familiar with the area (we can provide contacts).
Proceeds will be used to develop additional opportunities in Alaska and to support sheep disease research.
